Program Overview
Sport Analytics Program
The Department of Sport Management has partnered with the Department of Computer Science to offer Sport Analytics as a specialization within the Rice Professional Master of Data Science program. This offering joins the BA in Sport Analytics, which is one of the nation's only standalone sport analytics undergraduate majors.
Program Details
The Sport Analytics specialization requires at least three of the following courses:
- SMGT 530 (Introduction to Sport Analytics)
- This course provides an introduction to the field of sport analytics.
- SMGT 531 (Advanced Sport Analytics)
- This course offers advanced training in sport analytics.
- SMGT 532 (Soccer Analytics)
- This course focuses on the application of analytics in soccer.
- SMGT 535 (Baseball Analytics)
- This course focuses on the application of analytics in baseball.
- SMGT 590 (Seminar in Sport Analytics)
- This course provides a seminar-style exploration of sport analytics.
Program Structure
The Sport Analytics specialization can be completed in three semesters, offering students the opportunity to prepare themselves as job candidates in the exciting, growing field of Sport Analytics.
