Audition Requirements

Bass Trombone Preliminary Submission

The preliminary submission for Bass Trombone is by video and includes:

• Two contrasting movements from a Baroque sonata or Bach Cello Suite
• Solo of your choice
• Orchestral Excerpts:
  • Haydn Achieved is the Glorious Work from The Creation
  • Schumann Symphony No. 3 Renisch 4th movement
  • Berlioz Hungarian March
  • Strauss Ein Heldenleben
  • Wagner Entry of the Gods into Valhalla from Das Rheingold

Required Bass Trombone Audition Repertoire

The required audition repertoire for Bass Trombone includes:

• Two contrasting movements from a Baroque sonata or Bach Cello Suite
• Bozza New Orleans; Pilss; Ritter-George; Solo of your choice of comparable difficulty
• Orchestral Excerpts:
  • Haydn Achieved is the Glorious Work from The Creation
  • Schumann Symphony No. 3 Renisch 4th movement
  • Berlioz Hungarian March
  • Strauss Ein Heldenleben
  • Wagner Entry of the Gods into Valhalla from Das Rheingold
• Major Scales two octaves
• Sight reading (may include Tenor Clef)
