Introduction to the Rice University Master of Global Affairs

The Rice University Master of Global Affairs is a comprehensive program designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and expertise necessary to succeed in the field of global affairs.


Degree Requirements

The program includes a range of degree requirements, including:


  • Completion of a minimum of 18 credit hours in the program before undertaking an internship
  • Participation in an extensive field experience through an internship with an internationally based or focused organization
  • Completion of a capstone project that investigates, analyzes, and provides policy-based solutions to real-world problems

Graduate Field Internship

The Graduate Field Internship is a critical component of the program, providing students with invaluable experience and entrée to international entities. All internships must be approved by the Assistant Director for Employer Relations.


Capstone Course

The Capstone Course requires students to summarize their internship experience and area of study in a final project. Examples of past capstone projects include:
