Courses

One of the courses offered is:

ARCH 450: Formal Analysis

This course is taught by Scott Colman and takes place on Tuesdays from 6:30 9:00 p.m. in Anderson Hall, Room 154. The constructed world embodies our, often conflicting, hopes, beliefs, and values. This is not apparent with an everyday view of things. To see the way architecture manifests worldviews requires studied insightfulness. This course will explicate the rich history, theory, and practice of formal analysis in architecturethrough lectures, readings, discussions, and, above all, the act of visual interpretation. Each iteration of the seminar, focused by a particular analytical hypothesis and cultural frame, will consider built and imagined objects buildings, cities, and landscapes through extant and experimental means of graphic representation.
