The Master's in Education (M.Ed.) with a Dual Education Specialist Credential is a combined program that can be completed in just over a year, spanning five quarters. This full-time post-baccalaureate cohort program commences in the summer quarter each year. The curriculum is designed to be cutting-edge and research-informed, preparing students to address the needs of all students in culturally responsive ways.
Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission, candidates must meet specific requirements. Non-U.S. resident applicants must complete additional requirements prior to submitting their application, as mandated by the state of California for participation in a Teacher Preparation Program and to receive a teaching credential. These requirements are part of the regular admission criteria.
Certificate of Clearance
International applicants, non-U.S. citizens, or non-U.S. permanent residents applying to the Teacher Education Program (TEP) must obtain a Certificate of Clearance through the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). This certificate requires a Social Security Number (SSN) or an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN).
Student Teaching
Student teaching is mandatory for all TEP students to complete the required coursework and obtain a teaching credential. Applicants who cannot begin student teaching will need to withdraw from the program. Those ineligible to obtain a U.S. Social Security Number or Tax I.D. Number should consult with an advisor before applying.
Foreign Transcript Evaluation
Individuals who have completed college or university coursework outside the United States must obtain a complete evaluation of their foreign transcripts, degrees, and other relevant documents from a Commission on Teacher Credentialing approved organization. This evaluation must be uploaded into the application prior to the deadline.

- Basic Skills Requirement: Candidates can use their bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution as demonstration of the basic skills requirement.

- Subtest I (test code 101)
- Subtest II (test code 214)
