School Psychology: M.A./Ed.S.

About this program

The University of Delaware's School of Education offers an educational specialist (Ed.S.) program in school psychology with a specialization in school psychology. The two closely related programs train students in:

• Direct intervention skills, including counseling
• Psychoeducational evaluation of children using a variety of assessment and diagnostic approaches
• Prevention
• Consultation with parents, teachers, and school administrators
• Evaluation and research in school settings

The Ed.S. is a combined M.A./Ed.S. program. A master of arts degree is earned upon completion of the first 30 credit hours of coursework, and the educational specialist degree is earned upon completion of an additional 30 credit hours that include 1,200 hours of school-based internship(s) during the third year.

Program Details

The Ed.S. program is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). Students completing the programs qualify for school psychology certification or licensing to work in public schools in Delaware and most other states.

Tuition

The graduate student tuition rate per credit hour is $882.

Program Structure

The program includes a combination of coursework and internship experiences, with a total of 60 credit hours required for completion. The first 30 credit hours lead to a master of arts degree, and the additional 30 credit hours, including the internship, lead to the educational specialist degree.
