Garden Advice Program
The Garden Advice Program offers garden advice at home to New Castle County homeowners from April through October. Since 2005, Master Gardeners have provided advice to hundreds of New Castle County homeowners to meet their landscape and garden challenges. This seasonal service is offered by experienced, trained Master Gardener volunteers who address homeowners' questions and problems ranging from establishing a vegetable garden, renovating lawns, refurbishing and enhancing landscapes, and using sustainable horticulture practices to support pollinators and birds, minimize maintenance, and select appropriate plants. Clients learn how their gardening practices can connect their landscapes to the ecosystem in which they live.
Testimonials
Homeowners have praised the Garden Advice Program, stating:
- "Time and care spent on reviewing each bed. Very precise, helpful suggestions on what to plant, what to delete."
- "Helped me understand what I had and develop a maintenance plan going forward."
- "All of my questions were answered and they were patient with my lack of knowledge. The time spent was also great!"
- "Just having an expert really listen to me, offer suggestions and advice was so helpful, fun and educational."
Program Details
The Garden Advice Program is a fee-based service, with a $100 fee for the visit. A Master Gardener will contact the homeowner in approximately 10 business days to schedule the site visit. The University of Delaware is an Equal Opportunity Institution and Provider.
