Program Overview

Management Information Systems (B.S.)

The Management Information Systems (MIS) major combines computer science, business, and management information systems courses to equip MIS majors with the skills to help businesses make informed decisions, improve operational efficiency, and ensure data security.

Program Description

The MIS curriculum at the Lerner College utilizes cutting-edge technologies to enrich classroom learning and impart the skills essential for success in the global market. Students cultivate a unique tool kit, spanning business and technology, enabling them to effectively communicate their findings to audiences with less technical expertise.

Program Highlights

  • Internships: MIS students often choose to intern during their summers to gain career-related experience. Many recruiters seek Lerner's MIS majors for both public accounting firms and public/private industries upon graduation.
  • Peer Mentors: The peer mentors are accounting and MIS students that serve as liaisons between the department and the students, providing guidance on topics ranging from major/minor selection and campus organizations to the job search process.
  • Honors in Management Information Systems: The Honors College at UD offers a scholarly and enriching community that extends well beyond graduation, with smaller, more challenging classes and opportunities to engage in research and assume leadership roles.

Honors Requirements

The honors degree requires:

  1. All requirements for the B.S. in management information systems
  2. All of the UD requirements for the honors baccalaureate degree The honors credits in the major will normally include MISY 160 and MISY 225, and may include required courses from other Lerner departments.
