Program Content
The program focuses on skill training in singing, acting, dance, and movement, aiming to provide students with the skills required for solo roles in professional musical productions or related theater and music drama activities. Theoretical courses include entrepreneurship, the history of musicals, music theory, and an introduction to Swedish and foreign music drama.
First Year
- Basic exercises in singing, musical interpretation, speech, movement, dance, and scenic performance.
- Scenic performance includes basic actor training, character work, and improvisation.
- Theoretical courses run parallel to practical/technical courses.
Second Year
- In-depth studies in technical subjects with increased demands on style and form awareness in scenic performances.
Third Year
- A term of internship at a theater/music theater.
- The final term is dedicated to scenic work with a final production presented to the public.

Practice
During the third year, students undertake a term of practice at a professional theater in Sweden or abroad. Göteborgs universitet cannot assist with accommodation during the practice period.
After Studies
The program leads to a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music, 180 credits. It educates artists for employment in musical productions and related theater and music drama activities. Graduates are also eligible to apply for the Master's program in Contemporary Performative Arts.
