MFA Programme in Design
The MFA Programme in Design is a two-year master's programme offered by the HDK-Valand - Academy of Art and Design at the University of Gothenburg. The programme is designed to redefine the role of the designer within complex social, political, and ecological structures.

Prerequisites and Selection
Entry Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in design of at least 180 credits or equivalent.
- Applicants must prove their knowledge of English: English 6/English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test.
- Approved work samples are required.

Selection
- The selection is based on an assessment of submitted work samples.
After Graduation
- Graduates of the programme receive a Master of Fine Arts with a major in Design.
- The skills acquired during the programme equip students to engage in a variety of professional roles, including artistic research, critical design practice, and interdisciplinary work within fields such as social innovation and environmental design.
- The degree also qualifies graduates to apply for post-graduate studies.

- The programme is situated in the HDK-Valand facilities on Kristinelundsgatan, in the middle of Gothenburg, in the same building complex as Röhsska Museum of Design and Crafts.
- The international study environment has well-equipped workshops close to the arts.

- Full education cost: 638,000 SEK.
- First payment: 159,500 SEK.
- No fees are charged for EU and EEA citizens, Swedish residence permit holders, and exchange students.
