Master's Programme in Global Studies

The Master's Programme in Global Studies is a 2-year, 120-credit program offered by the School of Global Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The program is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of global challenges and their impact on social and ecological systems.

Prerequisites and Selection

Entry Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 30 credits within the Social Sciences or Humanities.
• English proficiency: English 6 from Swedish upper secondary school or an internationally recognized test such as TOEFL or IELTS.

Selection

• Selection is based on the number of credits from previous university studies, with a maximum of 165 credits.

After Graduation

• Graduates acquire knowledge, skills, and understanding pivotal for working towards sustainable solutions to planetary challenges.
• They can work in multilateral organizations, non-governmental organizations, media, national and local administrations, or pursue a doctoral degree.

Facilities

• The teaching facilities are located in central Gothenburg.
• The historic building of Annedalsseminariet has well-equipped learning technology and offers teaching in gallery-seated lecture halls and smaller rooms.
• The Social Sciences Library is within a 10-minute walk, and there are plenty of caf廥 and vibrant student life in the surrounding areas.

Internship

• An internship is part of the program, where students broaden their experience and work with an NGO, state, or private organization.
• National and international internships are possible.

Tuition Fees

• The full education cost for the program is 188,040 SEK for the 2025 intake and 192,000 SEK for the 2026 intake.
• The first payment is 47,010 SEK for the 2025 intake and 48,000 SEK for the 2026 intake.
• No fees are charged for EU and EEA citizens, Swedish residence permit holders, and exchange students.
