Education Content

The subject of Idrott och hðlsa (Physical Education and Health) involves studying lifestyle, health, physical activity, physical education, and sports practices. The program includes pedagogy, sociology, and psychology related to these areas, as well as training theory and how the body functions anatomically and physiologically.

Eligibility and Selection

• Eligibility: Grundlðggande beh—righet (General Eligibility) + Idrott och hðlsa 1, Matematik 2a or 2b or 2c, Naturkunskap 1b or 1a1 + 1a2, Samhðllskunskap 1b or 1a1 + 1a2.
• Selection: Betyg (66%) and h—gskoleprov (34%).

Work-Integrated Learning (VFU)

VFU is an essential part of the education, conducted at a school under the supervision of a teacher. It allows students to practice and reflect on the different aspects of the teaching profession and gradually develop their ability to act independently and take responsibility in their role as teachers.

After Graduation

After completing the program, students can apply for an ðmneslðrarexamen. They then have the eligibility to apply for a teaching license in the subject of physical education and health in grades 1-9 of compulsory school and upper secondary school, as well as in their second subject in grades 7-9 of compulsory school and upper secondary school. Graduates are also eligible to teach in adult education.

Studying Abroad

Students have the opportunity to conduct parts of their studies abroad, both in university-based and work-integrated studies. Initiating such an exchange requires students to first contact the responsible institution for their course.
