About the Education
The education combines theory and practice and encourages you to think independently, critically, and creatively. You will be guided over three years towards increasingly independent and complex work within the field. Great emphasis is placed on your artistic development, where discussion and supervision, both individually and in groups, are an important part of the teaching.
Courses and Curriculum
Courses in visual design, theory, and history, writing, and presentation techniques are held together with students from the specializations in jewelry art and textile art, as well as seminars on topics related to artistic creation and the role of the professional artist. Teaching in materials and techniques is generally focused on the ceramic area; other workshops can be used as space permits and in consultation with responsible technicians.

After the Studies
The education provides you with the prerequisites to work as an artist with specialized knowledge in the field of ceramics. The education also prepares you for further studies at the advanced level.
Studying at the University
The first year introduces you to the field of ceramic art through various techniques, working methods, and expressions. You will also explore and develop your working process and artistic language.
The second year provides you with in-depth knowledge in technique, method, and expression by concentrating on themes in longer courses and projects. You will also have the opportunity to relate ceramic art and your own artistic language to the surrounding world, contemporary society, and history.
The third year builds on your knowledge and uses it to independently formulate your projects within the framework of courses and assignments. This allows you to establish and strengthen your artistic language. During the spring semester, you will complete a degree project where you will demonstrate your ability to independently drive an artistic in-depth work within a given timeframe.
Elective Courses
The program includes elective courses, which give you as a student the opportunity to complement knowledge in other artistic practices and develop your skills and abilities. In the elective courses, you will meet students across subject boundaries and between year levels. You will apply for the elective courses based on an annually established course offering.
Elective courses are a mandatory part of the program.
