Program Content

The program aims to give students deeper knowledge and understanding of the financial economy, with the goal of enabling them to apply what they learn to practical problem-solving. It includes courses that provide fundamental knowledge in economic theory and financial analysis, as well as the opportunity to choose from a variety of elective courses to tailor the education to specific interests and goals.


Admission Requirements

  • General Eligibility: A Bachelor's degree (equivalent to 180 h—gskolepoðng) from an internationally recognized university and knowledge in English equivalent to English studies at the upper secondary school level.
  • Program Specific Requirements:
    • A) At least 7.5 credits in finance and at least 15 credits in microeconomics, and at least 15 credits in statistics or 7.5 credits in statistics and 7.5 credits in quantitative methods and/or mathematics.
    • B) A Bachelor's degree in mathematics or an engineering program with a quantitative or mathematical orientation.

Selection

Applicants who meet both the general and program-specific requirements are divided into three groups for selection. The first group includes applicants with a GMAT result, ranked based on their GMAT test result. The second group consists of applicants ranked based on their letter of motivation. The third group includes applicants ranked by the number of higher education credits.


Career Opportunities

After completing the program, students are prepared for jobs in investment banks, consulting firms, insurance companies, authorities, and financial departments within industrial companies. A significant percentage of graduates have accepted job offers within two months after graduation.


Study Abroad

Many students choose to study abroad, which provides the opportunity to experience a new academic environment, culture, and gather new experiences and perspectives. The School of Business, Economics and Law and the University of Gothenburg cooperate with a large number of partner universities around the world.


Double Degree

There is an opportunity to pursue a double degree in cooperation with the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy, where one of the two years of the master's program is spent at the partner university, leading to degrees from both universities.
