Program Overview
The Magisterprogram in Mikrobiologi, Smittskydd och VÕrdhygien is a 2-year, 60-credit program offered by the Institutionen f÷r biomedicin at Sahlgrenska akademin, G÷teborgs universitet. The program provides students with advanced knowledge in medical microbiology, infection epidemiology, and healthcare hygiene, as well as practical skills in handling outbreaks and preventing healthcare-related infections.

The program consists of four semester-long courses, each worth 15 credits:
- MIC101: Grundlõggande medicinsk mikrobiologi (Basic Medical Microbiology)
- MIC201: Infektionsepidemiologi och vaccinologi (Infection Epidemiology and Vaccinology)
- MIC301: Smittskydd och vÕrdhygien (Infection Control and Healthcare Hygiene)
- MIC401: Examensarbete (Degree Project)
Each course includes four weeks of teacher-led instruction, with the remaining time spent on self-study and project work.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the program, students must have a Bachelor's degree or a professional degree of at least 180 credits in a relevant field, such as medicine, nursing, biomedical science, or biology. They must also have proficiency in Swedish (Svenska 3/Svenska B) and English (Engelska A/Engelska 5).
