Program Overview
The Afgangsprojekt for Diplomuddannelsen i Operations & Supply Chain Management is a final project that concludes the Diploma Program in Operations and Supply Chain Management. This project is worth 15 ECTS and consists of two teaching days, a written project report, and an oral defense of the report.
Purpose
The purpose of the final project is to identify and analyze a practical problem using theories and methods from the field, and to develop solutions to the problem.
Practical Information
- The project begins with two teaching evenings, introducing the use of methods and theories in larger written projects.
- Teaching: Two teaching days from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM, followed by individual guidance.
- Project agreement will be available for download on DTU Inside at the first teaching session.
- Submission of the project agreement does not replace registration.
Examination
- The final project must be submitted on the day of submission by 11:59 PM at the latest.
- The final project is submitted electronically via DTU Inside.
- Examination dates will be announced later.

- Autumn 2025: Monday, December 15, 2025, by 11:59 PM.
Content
The teaching in project methodology covers the following topics:
- Introduction to project methodology and start of the final project
- Initial description of problem analysis and identification of the project's problem
- Planning of the project's activities
- Choice of theories, methods, and models
- Development and implementation of solutions
Examination
The examination form is an oral defense and dialogue based on the written assignment. The final project can be prepared individually or in a group of 2 or 3 students.
- The scope of the task: 40 to 50 standard pages (including spaces) (a total of max. 120,000 keystrokes) excluding front page, table of contents, and appendices.
- The report can be extended by a maximum of 20 standard pages per student.
Assessment
Assessment is with external censorship on a 7-point scale. The assessment criteria include both the written product, presentation of the project, and the oral defense. The result of the assessment is an overall evaluation of the written product, presentation, and oral defense.

- Understanding what data is in a project within the operations and supply chain field and understanding how to critically approach data collection
- Communication of analysis results and a clear thread between problem, causes, and solutions
- Description and illustration of a solution in writing and through presentations
- Planning of solution implementation, including project planning, design of project organization, and change management
Competence
- Ability to formulate a specific project purpose and problem statement precisely and understandably
- Ability to carry out analyzes of the problem's causes and develop effective and preferably innovative solutions
- Ability to argue for all choices and develop concrete recommendations for implementation
- Ability to apply the skills of the education in one's own business/everyday life
- Ability to perspective and discuss applied theories and methods in relation to one's own practice
