Program Overview


Program Overview

The Afgangsprojekt for Diplomuddannelsen Engineering Business Administration (EBA) is a final project that concludes the Engineering Business Administration diploma program. This project is worth 15 ECTS and consists of two teaching days, a written project report, and an oral defense.


Purpose

The purpose of the final project is to qualify students to identify, reflect, and analyze a practical problem, and to propose solutions and action possibilities through the application of theories, strategies, and methods from the program's modules.


Practical Information

  • The project begins with two teaching evenings, introducing the use of methods and theories in larger written projects.
  • Teaching: Two teaching days from 5:00-8:30 PM, followed by individual guidance.
  • Project agreement will be available for download on Inside at the first teaching session.
  • Submission of the project agreement does not replace registration.

Examination

  • The final project must be submitted on the day of submission by 11:59 PM at the latest.
  • The final project is submitted electronically via DTU Inside.
  • Examination dates will be announced later.

Submission Date

  • Autumn 2025: Monday, December 15, 2025, by 11:59 PM at the latest.

Content

The project methodology teaching covers the following topics:


  • Start, introduction to project methodology, and final project.
  • Initial description of the problem, project phases.
  • Purpose, limitation, problem formulation, choice of theories and models.
  • Information needs, method selection, and data collection, analysis, and presentation.

Examination

  • Examination form: The examination is an oral defense and dialogue based on the written assignment.
  • The final project can be prepared individually or in a group of 2 or 3 students.
  • The scope of the assignment: minimum 40 - maximum 50 standard pages (including spaces, approximately 120,000 characters) excluding front page, table of contents, and appendices.
  • The report can be extended progressively with a maximum of 20 standard pages per student.

Assessment

  • Individual assessment with external censorship on a 7-point scale.
  • The assessment criteria include both the written product and the oral defense.
  • The result of the assessment should be an overall evaluation of the written product and the oral defense.

Learning Objectives

Knowledge and Understanding

  • Understand the scientific theoretical basis related to the methods and theories used in the final project.
  • Understand that several methods, when applied correctly, give higher overall validity in investigations.
  • Apply knowledge of economic, marketing, management, and organizational theories, as well as related methods, in a reflective manner.

Skills

  • Relevantly select and evaluate one or more methods for collecting empirical data.
  • Relevantly select theories and models that can provide the project with fruitful perspectives.
  • Collect empirical data that builds the necessary argumentation basis.
  • Evaluate the results of the analyses in relation to the chosen theories and methods, and relate reflectively to the results' potential for application in one's own practice.
  • Communicate complex problem statements in relation to the organization.

Competence

  • Formulate a concrete project purpose briefly and precisely.
  • Conclude based on the existing argumentation basis and come up with recommendations for initiatives that can address the challenges the project seeks to solve.
  • Apply the skills of the education in one's own business/everyday life.
  • Perspectivate and discuss applied theories and methods in relation to one's own practice.

  • The price is set based on factors such as lesson length, the Ministry of Education's subsidy rate, and special conditions.
  • Note: DTU has price-regulated as of August 1, 2024, according to current rules and announcements.
