Program Overview

The Diploma Program in Project Management is a comprehensive course of study designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to manage projects effectively. The program consists of several modules, culminating in a final project that demonstrates the student's ability to apply theoretical concepts to real-world problems.

Program Structure

• The program is divided into modules, each focusing on a specific aspect of project management, such as methods and tools, strategy and organization, agile projects, and communication and team relations.
• The final project, worth 15 ECTS credits, is a critical component of the program, where students apply the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the course to a practical project management problem.

Final Project Details

Purpose

The purpose of the final project is to qualify students to identify, reflect, and analyze a practical project management problem, and to propose solutions and courses of action by applying theories, strategies, and methods learned during the program.

Requirements

• The project must be completed within the timeframe specified by the program.
• Students must submit a written project report, which will be followed by an oral defense.
• The report should be between 40 and 50 standard pages (approximately 120,000 characters, including spaces), excluding the title page, table of contents, and appendices.
• For group projects, the report can be extended by up to 20 standard pages per student.

Assessment

• The final project is assessed based on the written report and the oral defense.
• The assessment criteria include the student's understanding of project management theories and methods, their ability to apply this knowledge to a practical problem, and their communication and presentation skills.
• The project can be undertaken individually or in groups of up to three students.

• Students should understand the theoretical foundations of project management methods and theories.
• They should be able to reflect on the application of multiple methods to achieve higher validity in investigations.
• Students must demonstrate an understanding of project management theories and methods and their application.

• Students should be able to select and evaluate appropriate methods for data collection.
• They must choose relevant theories and models that can provide fruitful perspectives for the project.
• Students should be able to collect empirical data that builds the necessary argumentation basis.
• They must be able to evaluate the results of analyses in relation to chosen theories and methods and reflect on the results' potential for application in their own practice.

Competence

• Students should be able to formulate a concrete project objective concisely and precisely.
• They must be able to conclude based on the existing argumentation basis and come up with recommendations for initiatives that can address the challenges the project seeks to solve.
• Students should be able to apply the skills learned during the education in their own business/everyday life.
• They must be able to perspective and discuss applied theories and methods in relation to their own practice.

General Information About Prices

• The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) has regulated prices as of August 1, 2024, according to current rules and announcements.
• The education programs and individual course modules are offered under the Law on Open Education and are approved by the Ministry of Education.
• The state subsidy for part-time education is determined in the Finance Act for one year at a time. DTU reserves the right to adjust the participant payment in case of changes.
