Program Overview

Program Overview

The Diploma Engineering program in Fishery Technology provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the entire value chain in the fishing industry, from marine life to fishing technology, food production, and sustainable management of fish and shellfish. The program is taught in collaboration with the local fishing industry, equipping students with the skills to contribute to the development of a sustainable fishery.

Program Structure

The program is divided into several semesters, with the first one and a half years spent studying in Greenland at the DTU campus in Sisimiut, located 50 km north of the Arctic Circle. This provides students with extensive practical fieldwork in the unique Greenlandic environment and the opportunity to experience the Arctic climate and social conditions firsthand. The 4th and 5th semesters take place at DTU's campuses in Denmark. The 6th semester includes a company internship, and the final 8th semester offers the possibility of taking courses in the Arctic. The 7th semester can be used for an exchange program abroad.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the program, students must have a high school diploma or an admission course. The application deadlines are March 15th for quota 2 and July 5th for quota 1. For students who lack an admission-giving exam, DTU offers an admission course that can be taken in Sisimiut, Ballerup, Lyngby, or Næstved. Supplemental courses are also available for students who lack specific admission-giving subjects.

Program Duration

The program takes four years to complete.
