Curriculum
The curriculum for the UAB Selma Family Medicine Residency program is designed to train family medicine physicians who see the whole patient and family, and understand the social, physiological, economic, cultural, and biological factors that patients face.
PGY-1
- Family Medicine/Critical Care: 16 weeks, four 4-week blocks
- Pediatrics: 12 weeks, three 4-week blocks
- Obstetrics: 4 weeks, one 4-week block
- Gynecology: 4 weeks, one 4-week block
- Community Medicine/Health Systems Management: 2 weeks, one 2-week block
- Emergency Medicine: 4 weeks, one 4-week block
- Radiology: 2 weeks, one 2-week block
- Surgery: 4 weeks, one 4-week block
PGY-2
- Family Medicine/Critical Care: 16 weeks, four 4-week blocks
- Pediatrics: 4 weeks, one 4-week block
- Emergency Medicine: 4 weeks, one 4-week block
- Rural Medicine: 4 weeks, one 4-week block
- Obstetrics: 4 weeks, one 4-week block
- Cardiology: 4 weeks, one 4-week block
- Selective: 8 weeks, two 4-week blocks
- Community Medicine/Health Systems Management: 4 weeks, one 4-week block
PGY-3
- Family Medicine/Critical Care: 12 weeks, three 4-week blocks
- Emergency Medicine: 4 weeks, one 4-week block
- Psychiatry: 2 weeks, one 2-week block
- Sports: 4 weeks, one 4-week block
- Community Medicine/Health Systems Management: 4 weeks, one 4-week block
- ENT: 2 weeks, one 2-week block
- Pediatrics - ambulatory: 4 weeks, one 4-week block
- Electives: 18 weeks, four 4-week blocks
