About Program
Program Overview
Advanced Podiatric Limb Salvage and Reconstruction Fellowship
About the Program
The UAB Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy, a division of the UAB Department of Surgery, offers a podiatry fellowship program. The UAB Advanced Podiatric Limb Salvage and Reconstruction Fellowship focuses on limb salvage and the intersection of vascular surgery and podiatry. This is the first fellowship of its kind in the state of Alabama.
The program is a result of the update to the state law in 2023, which increased podiatrists' scope to include the ankle. Clinical Associate Professor Kyle Mauk, DPM, will direct the new fellowship. The program aims to provide specialized training in Alabama, benefiting the large diabetic patient population in the state who are at risk of needing lower limb amputations.
