The Bachelor of Science in Engineering program in Building Technology and Design at KTH provides students with the opportunity to shape Sweden's future buildings and infrastructure. The program offers a scientific foundation and in-depth knowledge in building and infrastructure engineering, enabling students to participate in the development of a sustainable society.

Opportunities with Building Technology and Design

The construction industry is undergoing significant changes due to digitalization, a growing population, and new perspectives on sustainability. These changes create new opportunities and challenges, and the program provides students with the tools needed to address them.

Education

The program includes knowledge of building technology, construction production, construction engineering, and building economics. The first two years cover theoretical and building technology subjects, as well as digital tools. In the third year, students choose specialization courses in areas such as architecture, construction engineering, and construction production.

Job and Future

After completing the program, students can work with project management, building design, or construction site management. The program provides a good foundation for continued personal development and lifelong learning, enabling students to keep up with the rapid technological development and the future job market.

Student Life

The student life at KTH consists of more than just studies. As a student in the Building Technology and Design program, you belong to the Engineering Section Building, which is part of the Royal Institute of Technology Student Union (THS). The sections at KTH are driven by students themselves and aim to promote social student life, develop the quality of education, and strengthen contacts with the industry.

KTH offers many opportunities for international studies. The program provides the opportunity to study part of the education at one of KTH's partner universities abroad. Popular destinations among students in the Building Technology and Design program include Singapore, the Czech Republic, Australia, and Denmark.

Building Technology and Design for a Sustainable World

The program teaches students to understand and develop solutions for several of the global goals for sustainable development, particularly the goals of Sustainable Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, Sustainable Cities and Communities, and Climate Action. Students learn about sustainable energy use and efficient use of material resources, and they study courses in material science, environmental science, and urban planning.
