Higher Grant from CSN
In certain situations, you can receive a higher grant portion and a lower loan portion within the study aid from CSN. This applies, for example, if you are going to read a complementary pedagogical education (KPU). However, you must send a certificate from the university showing that you are admitted to a KPU.
Reorientation Study Support
The education gives the right to apply for reorientation study support from CSN, which can provide a grant of up to 80% of your salary. It is intended for those who are in the middle of their working life and want to broaden their competence to become more attractive in the labor market.
Complementary Pedagogical Education 90 hp
The Complementary Pedagogical Education is a program for those who already have subject knowledge in physics, chemistry, mathematics, or technology and want to become teachers. It is, for example, for those who today work as engineers or in a scientifically related profession. After one and a half years of study, you can be ready to take a place in the classroom.
During the education, you will complete several periods of work-based training, which takes place at a primary or secondary school under the supervision of an experienced teacher. In addition, pedagogy and didactics, educational history, special education, assessment, and grading are studied. The education ends with a degree project in subject didactics, i.e., the science that studies learning and teaching in a particular subject.
The complementary pedagogical education at KTH is conducted in a form called blended learning. This means that physical meetings at KTH Campus in Stockholm are mixed with distance studies. You must expect to come to Stockholm a few days a month, but in between, you can study anywhere via a web platform. The physical meetings are mandatory and are devoted to seminars and exercises that are difficult to conduct at a distance. During the work-based training, students are in a school full-time. Usually, you can be in a school in your hometown.

Job and Future
The demand for educated teachers in mathematics, technology, and natural sciences is high across almost the entire country.
Depending on your subject studies, you can become:
- A subject teacher for secondary school in one or two subjects in physics/chemistry/mathematics/technology
- A subject teacher for upper secondary school in one, two, or three subjects in physics/chemistry/mathematics/technology
Being a teacher is a social profession that provides the opportunity to contribute to society, technology, and science by helping to shape future students and the workforce.
As a teacher, you practice the ability to communicate and make things understandable, which is useful regardless of whether you stay in school or later change paths. If you have a licentiate or doctoral degree in one of your teaching subjects, you can, as a finished teacher, apply for a position as a lecturer at primary or secondary school and work with school and subject development or subject further education.
