Program Overview


MSc Cybersecurity and Assurance

The joint master's programme in Cybersecurity and Assurance will teach you to protect systems and data, and to manage security in real-world settings. You will understand how threats arise, how to stop them, and how organisations build robust solutions over time. This programme is offered jointly by KTH and five other prominent European universities.

Programme Details

The master's programme in Cybersecurity and Assurance will develop your deep skills to analyse security challenges, design and evaluate secure cryptosystems, identify and prioritize vulnerabilities, and implement effective detection and mitigation mechanisms. At the Cyber Range summer school in Gjøvik, Norway, you will work through realistic, hands-on scenarios with direct links to industry. You will also learn to communicate problems, analyses, and solutions clearly, to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Future and Career

The programme prepares you for the full security field, from technical roles such as Security Architect, Ethical Hacker, Malware Analyst and implementing security controls, to leadership and compliance-focused roles such as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Data Protection Officer (DPO), Compliance Officer and Security Auditor. You will also gain expertise in cryptography, risk management, policy and tech ethics, and you'll be able to teach and help build a strong security culture. With a blend of practical skills and strategic insight, you will be in high demand on the job market.

Programme Structure

Students will spend at least one semester (30 ECTS credits) at one of the partner universities. The programme will cover various aspects of cybersecurity, including security challenges, cryptosystems, vulnerabilities, and mitigation mechanisms.
