Molecular Techniques in Life Science

The Master's programme in Molecular Techniques in Life Science is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the latest molecular techniques and their applications in life science research.

Introduction

The programme focuses on the theoretical and practical aspects of molecular techniques, including their development, application, and interpretation. Students will gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment and techniques, as well as develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the programme, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an internationally recognized university, equivalent to a Swedish bachelor's degree
  • English proficiency equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6
  • Specific requirements for the programme, including:
    • A bachelor's degree, corresponding to 180 ECTS credits, including courses in:
      • Life Science (e.g., Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Gene Technology, or Molecular Biology) corresponding to at least 20 ECTS credits
      • Mathematics corresponding to at least 10 ECTS credits

Application Documents

Students must submit the following documents:

  • Degree certificates
  • Transcript of courses and grades
  • Proof of English proficiency
  • Identification (passport or other identification document)
  • CV, outlining research experience, relevant work experience, and extracurricular activities
  • Summary sheet, available via the link when the application opens

Selection Criteria

The selection process is based on the following criteria:

  • Study results
  • Previous studies (e.g., GPA, grades in specific subjects, and English)
  • Motivation for the studies (e.g., motivational text in summary sheet, relevant courses, or research experience)
  • Previous education, evaluated on the quality of the previous education in relevant subjects

Acceptance Rate

The acceptance rate for the programme in 2025 was 28%, with 69 students admitted out of 250 applicants who met the admission requirements.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who lack a formal requirement for a course or programme but believe they have the necessary knowledge can apply for recognition of prior learning.
