Overview of the First Three Years

The program focuses on architecture, with students solving architectural tasks in project form and taking courses in architectural theory and history, architectural technology, and artistic subjects.

Opportunities with Architecture

Architecture involves all human building and design of the environment. A crucial task for architects is to create sustainable living environments in a time where we must reduce our environmental impact and adapt our societies to a growing population and a changing climate.

Education

The central subject of the program is architecture. Students learn to solve architectural problems in project form and take courses in architectural theory and history, architectural technology, and artistic subjects. The program is organized into three years at the basic level, followed by two years of in-depth studies at the advanced level.

Job and Future Prospects

As an architect, graduates work with the development of future society, using artistic, structural, and technical skills to design interiors, buildings, cities, and landscapes. The labor market for architects is becoming increasingly international, and graduates can work at architectural firms, in the public sector, or start their own business.

Teaching and Study Environment

The program consists of project-based teaching and supporting courses in architectural technology, architectural theory and history, art, and communication. The focus is on providing students with the ability to formulate problems, analyze, evaluate, summarize, sketch, and find multiple solutions.

Student Life

Student life at KTH consists of much more than just studies. As a student on the Arkitektutbildning program, students belong to the Arkitektursektionen. The sections at KTH are part of the Tekniska H鐷skolans Studentk緳 (THS) and are driven by the students themselves.

International Opportunities

KTH offers many opportunities for international studies. Completing part of the studies abroad is a unique chance to enhance your CV, discover the world, and make friends for life. Through the Arkitektutbildning program, students can meet new cultures, different views on architecture, and dive into other architectural worlds.

Architecture for a Sustainable World

The program teaches students to understand and develop solutions for several of the global goals for sustainable development, particularly the goals of equality, sustainable cities and communities, and ecosystem and biodiversity. Architecture plays a crucial role in driving innovation and development of our built environment and societal construction in a sustainable direction.
