AG2161 European Planning Systems
The course AG2161 European Planning Systems is a 7.5 credit literature and project course that analyzes planning systems, issues, and traditions primarily within European countries and regions. It is mainly intended for students with experience in planning systems and/or planning education in Sweden or abroad.
Course Contents
The course covers similarities and dissimilarities in national planning systems, traditions, and issues, as well as experiences from cross-border planning. It includes examples from ongoing cross-border projects and an in-depth study with a systematic comparison of the planning contexts in two European countries.
Intended Learning Outcomes
After completing the course requirements, students shall be able to analyze the differences between planning systems and how these affect planning practice.
Literature and Preparations
- Specific prerequisites: Knowledge corresponding to at least 60 credits in urban and regional planning.
- Recommended prerequisites: At least 30 ECTS within urban and regional planning.
- Literature: To be decided upon an individual basis.

- LIT1 - Literature Seminar, 1.5 credits, grading scale: P, F.
