  • Concepts and theories of knowledge management, learning, innovation, and change
  • Innovation processes and innovation ecosystems in the construction and real estate sector
  • Management and organization of processes relating to knowledge management, learning, innovation, and change especially in real estate owner firms, consultancy firms, and construction contractors
  • Innovation in building projects and innovation projects
  • Procurement and innovation
  • Innovation and learning relating to goals for social, environmental, and economic sustainability
  • Apply the course contents in a project assignment

Intended Learning Outcomes

The aim of the course is to prepare students for planning, managing, and participating in processes related to knowledge development, learning, innovation, and change within, and in collaboration between, firms and other organizations in the built environment. After the course, students should be able to:


  • Describe, analyse, and evaluate theories and models for knowledge development, learning, innovation, and change, and apply such theories and models to suggest strategies for specific situations in the construction and real estate sector, considering goals for social, environmental, and economic sustainability.
  • Search for, cite, integrate, analyze, evaluate, and suggest research-based literature in the field covered in the course.

  • Completed course AI2810 Project communication or similar

Based on recommendation from KTH's coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.


The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
