Content and Learning Outcomes

Course Contents

This course is based on the generic curriculum and the CDIO methodology, including activities to analyze and develop solution proposals in teams within sustainable production development. The course covers areas such as industrial design, analysis, optimization, choice of material, manufacturing, and operation of technical systems and products. Students develop proficiencies in generating new knowledge based on established theories and methods, with results relevant to industrial application and academic contribution.


Intended Learning Outcomes

On completion, students should be able to:


  • Demonstrate the ability to master the development process to methodologically develop solution proposals for complex problems in sustainable production development.
  • Have knowledge of established design methods and tools to identify areas for improvement.
  • Plan and carry out a group-based technical development project with different roles within a given time frame and technical expertise.
  • Account orally and in writing for concepts, prototypes, solutions, conclusions, and facts with main stakeholders and other project groups.
  • Show how the developed solution can be implemented and operated in an industrial production and logistics context.
  • Make assessments regarding social, socio-economic, and ethical aspects from local and global perspectives.
  • Participate in development work, implementation, and operation of the developed solution to work independently in advanced industrial activities.
