Master of Science in Radiologic Sciences
Program Overview
Introduction to the Radiological Sciences Program
The College of Applied Medical Sciences at King Saud University is one of the health colleges, established in 1396 AH, corresponding to 1977 AD. It is the first college of applied medical sciences established in the Kingdom, aiming to prepare leading health professionals with high-level research skills through distinguished academic programs according to quality standards.
Department of Radiological Sciences
The Department of Radiological Sciences was established in the College of Applied Medical Sciences in 1400 AH, corresponding to 1990 AD. The Bachelor's program in Radiological Sciences is the first program in the Middle East. Since its establishment, more than 1,500 students have graduated from the program. The program received international accreditation from the German Accreditation Agency for Science and Healthcare (AHPGS) in 2011.
Program Overview
Radiological science covers multiple techniques for diagnosing diseases affecting the human body, including diagnostic radiography, nuclear medicine (NM), ultrasound (US), computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Professionals perform medical imaging, apply radiation protection principles, and evaluate image quality while practicing their profession and patient care. Graduates from the program can find jobs in hospitals, clinics, and industrial companies.
Department Characteristics
The Department of Radiological Sciences at the College of Applied Medical Sciences is distinguished by the presence of qualified faculty members and research laboratories that support scientific research in various fields of specialization. Over the past five years, the department's research groups have published more than 120 scientific research papers in internationally reviewed scientific journals in the following fields:
- Nuclear medicine and molecular imaging
- Magnetic resonance imaging technology
- Medical ultrasound
- Medical radiation protection
Master's Program in Radiological Sciences
The Master's program in Radiological Sciences (thesis
on-thesis) aims to meet the needs of the radiological sciences and medical imaging sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has shown rapid growth in the number and type of health facilities, especially the qualitative and quantitative developments in radiological sciences and medical imaging over the past decade.
Academic Tracks
The Master's program offers several academic tracks, including:
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology
- Medical ultrasound
- Nuclear medicine and molecular imaging
- Medical radiation protection
These tracks are designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and skills in their chosen area of specialization, preparing them for careers in healthcare, research, and education.
