Program Overview

College of Language Sciences

The College of Language Sciences offers a Bachelor of French program, which was established in 1397AH (1977AD) within the Center for European Languages and Translation (CELT) programs.

Program Overview

The French Language Program was initially taught as an optional course for students in all faculties of the university, allowing the selection of some courses outside the scope of specialization (ten credit hours). In 1411H (1991), the Bachelor of French Language program was introduced within the programs of the Department of European Languages and Translation.

Program Development

The program underwent changes with the establishment of the Institute of Languages and Translation in 1415H (1995), which later became the College of Languages and Translation. The program's name was changed to the French Language and Translation Program, provided by the Department of French Language and Translation. After restructuring the college, it was divided into four academic departments in the academic year 1432/1433AH.

Program Objectives

The program aims to prepare qualified translators in translation to and from French.

Department Information

On 9/6/1444, and based on the decision of the University Affairs Council No. (4/13/1444), the College of Languages and Translation was restructured, and its new name became "College of Language Sciences." The Department of French Language and Translation was amended to the new "Department of French Language."
