Program Overview
Introduction to Tianjin University's Chinese Language Learning Program
Tianjin University's Chinese Language Learning Program is designed for international students who wish to study Chinese. The program is a full-time course that takes place at the university's International Education College.
Program Structure
The program is divided into three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Each level has a maximum of 15 students per class, with 4 hours of classes per day and 20 hours of classes per week. Students who complete the program will receive a certificate of completion and a transcript.
Course Settings
The program includes the following courses:
- Chinese language classes: speaking, listening, reading, and comprehensive Chinese
- Chinese culture courses (elective): Tai Chi, martial arts, calligraphy, Chinese painting, paper cutting, cooking, Chinese songs, and seal cutting
- Other courses (elective): HSK 4-6 level tutoring, business Chinese
- Extracurricular activities: Tianjin city tours (additional fees apply)
Academic Calendar
The program is at least one semester long, with a maximum of four semesters.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the program, applicants must:
- Be non-Chinese citizens
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Be at least 18 years old (or provide a guardianship certificate if under 18)
- Have good physical and mental health
- Comply with Chinese laws and regulations, as well as the university's rules
Application Process
Applicants must submit the following documents:
- Highest level of education certificate (original or notarized copy)
- Transcript of all courses taken (original or notarized copy)
- Continuous learning experience certificate
- Passport copy (valid for at least six months)
- Health certificate (issued by a national hospital)
- Proof of language proficiency (if applicable)
- Other documents (if required)
Tuition Fees
The tuition fees for the program are as follows:
- Registration fee: 420 yuan
- Tuition fee: 7,000 yuan per semester (14,000 yuan per year)
- Insurance fee: 400 yuan per semester
- Accommodation fees (on-campus):
- Single room: 60 yuan per day
- Double room: 50 yuan per day
- Other expenses (transportation, learning materials, etc.) are borne by the student
Scholarship
Students who excel in their studies may be eligible for the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship, which covers tuition fees, living expenses, accommodation fees, and insurance fees.
Admission
Applicants can check their application status on the university's international student service platform. Successful applicants will receive an admission notice and a visa application form.
Visa Application and Registration
Successful applicants must apply for a Chinese visa at the Chinese embassy or consulate in their home country, using the admission notice and visa application form. They must then register at the university on the designated date, bringing their passport, admission notice, and other required documents.

All fees are non-refundable once paid. The university reserves the right to adjust the program and fees as needed.
