Advanced Mixing and Mastering Course

The Advanced Mixing and Mastering Course is a 4-month program that refines students' approach to the mixing environment and session preparation. The course covers topics such as:

• Summing, Levelling & Metering
• Phase Management
• Stereo Bus Processing
• Creating Space & Headroom
• Limiters & Clippers
• Multi-band Compression & Group Processing
• Ambience Matching & Mix Cohesion

The course is delivered with ProTools and includes:

• Two lessons per week for the first 8 weeks
• An event week (or extra lessons if the event week is not feasible)
• Three 90-minute mixing sessions and three 90-minute mastering sessions
• One hour per week of 1-on-1 sessions

Faculty

The Head Instructor for the Advanced Mixing and Mastering Course is Federico Naccari, who has extensive experience in advanced mixing, mastering, and sound design techniques. He holds a Master's in Sound Design with a focus on Spectro-Morphology from Bath Spa University.

Campus and Facilities

SAE Institute is located in the Amsterdam-North district, with industry-standard studios and equipment. The campus offers a creative hub shared with established industry engineers and artists, providing an environment that nurtures high-level production.

Accreditation and Recognition

SAE Institute is a recognized CRKBO institution. The 2025/6 degree programs are developed, delivered, and assessed by SAE Institute and awarded by and quality assured by the University of Hertfordshire. Students enrolled in degree programs prior to January 1, 2022, are on programs developed, delivered, and assessed by SAE Institute and awarded by and quality assured by Middlesex University.

Admission and Fees

Students studying higher education courses may be eligible for various forms of funding, including student loans and grants. The domestic fees for the Advanced Mixing and Mastering Certificate are available upon request. The course starts in January, May, and September, and students can apply online or request more information.
