Digital Illustration Course

A short course in digital illustration is offered, which covers:

• Core drawing and painting skills
• Creating characters and believable illustrations
• Fundamental painting exercises
• Perspective and color theory
• Various styles, including animation and American comics to anime

The course is designed for:

• 16 years and above
• Anyone with an interest in drawing or painting digitally
• Complete beginners wanting to learn the art of drawing from traditional to digital

Softwares used include Photoshop and Wacom Tablet.

The course outline includes:

• Session 1: Photoshop UI and customization
• Session 2: Drawing in Photoshop 1
• Session 3: Drawing in Photoshop 2 (Observational)
• Session 4: Perspective
• Session 5: Perspective 2
• Session 6: Inking Techniques
• Session 7: Introduction to Painting
• Session 8: Coloring in Photoshop
• Session 9: Coloring in Photoshop 2

The program outcome is that students will be able to:

• Draw and paint digital characters from start to finish
• Create believable environments
• Master the Photoshop User Interface for Illustration
• Create illustrations in a number of different styles
