Program Overview
The BA/BSc (Hons) Game Art and 3D Animation program is a two-year full-time course that covers the fundamentals of 2D and 3D art, animation, and game development. The program is divided into four semesters, each with a unique set of modules and projects.
Semester 1
- 2D Fundamentals: Introduction to the basics of 2D design, general image design, and color theory.
- 3D Fundamentals: Introduction to the basics of 3D modeling, UV workflow, texturing, and texture baking.
- Financing Marketing & Publication: Development of a sense of what areas of work students may later take up in the industry and how to market their work within a team to a specific target group.
Semester 2
- Digital Sculpting & PBR Texturing: Providing students with an understanding of the 3D production pipeline and the skills for creating detailed assets based on concepts.
- Game Art Animation & Rendering: Introduction to the basics of animation and rendering, including the technical processes of lighting and rigging.
- Collaborative Media Project: Enables students to undertake a collaborative media project, gaining experience in the production of a dedicated creative media item.
Semester 3
- Creative Studio 1: Utilization of complex and industry-relevant workflows for producing media projects in a simulated workplace setting.
- Research and Professional Development in Creative Media: Designing the final thesis for the bachelor's degree, developing an idea that brings together personal or professional interests and creativity.
Semester 4
- Advanced Specialised Project: Development of professional practice through the planning and development of an independent activity, which may have a practical or theoretical focus.
- Major Project BA(or BSc): Demonstration of skills in a large-scale, advanced-level project, with options for a practice-based or research-based project.
