Programme Modules

Year 1 and Year 2

  • Social Pedagogy (30 Credits) - Compulsory: This module considers education as something which individuals, groups, and societies can experience throughout their life. It explores education as a human right that enables children and adults to learn and develop.
  • Learning and Teaching for Engagement and Success (30 Credits) - Optional: This module aims to introduce theories and techniques to facilitate high-quality education for a diverse range of students.
  • Approaches to Leadership and Management in Education (30 Credits) - Optional: The aim of this module is to develop the necessary knowledge and skills for effective leadership and management in education.
  • Approaches to Inclusion (30 Credits) - Optional: This module aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to create inclusive educational environments.

Programme Content

Develop Critical Understanding of Education Theory, Policy, and Practice

  • The programme will provide students with deep and systematic knowledge of theoretical, policy, and practice perspectives within educational contexts.
  • Students will critically evaluate policy, practice, and research highlighting the reciprocal relationships between them.

Tailor Your Learning

  • Students will address the connection between teaching and learning and investigate various evidence-based pedagogical approaches to connect the two.
  • The programme also provides opportunities for students to critically analyse and evaluate the integration of technology within school and classroom environments.

Entry Requirements

  • Academic Requirements: Minimum second-class honours degree (UK) or above, or overseas equivalent qualification is required.
  • English Language Requirements:
    • IELTS Academic: 6.5 (with 6.0 in each component)
    • TOEFL Internet-based: 79 (Reading min 18, Writing min 21, Listening min 17, Speaking min 20)
    • Pearson PTE Academic: 59 (with 59 in all components)
    • Dubai Campus MDX Internal English Test: 6.5 (with 6.0 in each component)
  • Students with certain qualifications (e.g., GCSE/IGCSE/O-Level English, International Baccalaureate) may be considered as having met the English language requirements.

Teaching

  • Classes are held at the Dubai Knowledge Park campus on weekdays from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
  • Occasional weekend or holiday sessions may also be scheduled with prior notice.
