Program Overview


Introduction to the BA Honours Fashion Programme

The BA Honours Fashion programme is designed to equip graduates with industry-relevant skills and knowledge, nurturing their ability to operate with integrity and a strong sense of personal identity within the global fashion community. We foster students to think creatively and independently, encouraging innovative approaches to problem-solving and design.

Programme Content

The programme focuses on individuality and encourages students to question everything and learn within a multifaceted environment. Students will gain the knowledge and practical skills essential for a successful career in fashion design, as well as develop self-confidence, a willingness to challenge themselves, teamwork, and the skills to discover and define their design identity.

Entry Requirements

The entry requirements for the programme include:


  • Indian Secondary School Certificates / CBSE: minimum grade of 65% overall
  • British A-Levels: minimum Two or Three with grades AA / BBC
  • GCSE: students are eligible to join the International Foundation Programme
  • International Baccalaureate: students must have passed the full IB Diploma with 24 – 28 Points
  • American High School Diploma: minimum GPA of 2.8, SAT scores of 1100, or an ACT composite score of 23
  • Tawjihiyya (Secondary School Certificate): students are eligible to apply for the International Foundation Programme
  • Pakistani National Curriculum: completion of Year 1 at a recognised post-secondary institution
  • Iranian Pre-University Certificate: minimum overall grade of 12
  • Nigerian Senior School Leaving Certificate: candidates are admitted to the International Foundation Programme
  • National Curriculum of the countries of Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan: candidates are admitted to the International Foundation Programme
  • West African GCE: candidates are admitted to the International Foundation Programme
  • BTEC Level 3: qualifications may be considered for direct entry into an undergraduate programme
  • Middlesex University International Foundation Programme (IFP): successful completion of the programme
  • NCUK Foundation Qualification: students can contact the admissions team directly to understand entry requirement eligibility

English Language Requirements

All programmes at Middlesex University Dubai are taught in English, and applicants with previous education outside of English-speaking countries must demonstrate English language proficiency through:


  • IELTS Academic: 6.0 (minimum 5.5 in each band)
  • TOEFL Internet-based: 72 (17 in listening & writing, 20 in speaking and 18 in reading)
  • Pearson PTE Academic: 59 (with 59 in all components)
  • Dubai Campus MDX Internal English Test: 6.0 (with 5.5 in each component)

Teaching

Classes are held at the Dubai Knowledge Park campus, and students will be involved in a range of learning, teaching, and assessment approaches. The programme requires active involvement and collaboration with fellow students, including working and learning as part of small groups.


Future Career and Employment

Fashion designers can be self-employed and set up their own labels, or work with design studios or through an agency. The advanced development of a personal stylistic identity means that students are better placed to compete within the marketplace after they've graduated. They will be employable in a range of different roles, including freelance fashion designer, design room assistant, garment technician, production assistant, and fashion designer in both high-street and designer labels.
