Program Overview
Summer Professional Orientation Program
The University of Cincinnati's (UC) 3rd Summer 3-week Program is scheduled to take place from July 10 till 28, 2017. This program is designed for students at FUE's Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Faculty of Economics & Political Science, Faculty of Computers & Information Technology, and the Faculty of Commerce & Business Administration.
Program Details
- The program is designed to offer candidates the know-how that gives them an edge in developing their "professional experience".
- Classes are held from Monday through Friday for six hours per day.
- Students will be exempted from the Program's tuition fees (i.e., US $6450).
- Throughout the trip, students will be chaperoned by FUE professional staff.
- Upon completion of the program, students will receive a certificate of completion from UC.
Social Sciences Program
- Week 1: International Human Rights
- This course provides an overview of international human rights.
- Topics covered include political democracy, women's rights, migrant and refugee rights, poverty and exploitation, and terrorism and war.
- Week 2: E-Commerce
- This course allows students to learn about online marketing and business methods using internet communications networks and other technologies to initiate, support, and build growth in business.
- Week 3: Entrepreneurship
- This course provides students with a foundation for enterprise creation, exploring issues like crafting a business plan, creating organizations in pursuit of your entrepreneurial objectives, effectively leading as an entrepreneur or member of a team, and evaluating new venture concepts.
Technology & Entrepreneurship Program
- Week 1: Entrepreneurship
- This course provides students with a foundation for enterprise creation, exploring issues like crafting a business plan, creating organizations in pursuit of your entrepreneurial objectives, effectively leading as an entrepreneur or member of a team, and evaluating new venture concepts.
- Week 2: Sticky Innovation
- This course incorporates documentary film, fiction, arts-based inquiry, scientific research, and modes of reflection to design creative solutions to a known biological problem.
- Integrating engineering and art, students will gain experience in modes of inquiry that will develop creative research approaches, problem-solving skills, and innovative habits.
- Week 3: Intelligent Bio-Inspired Robotics
- This course provides students with an introduction to bio-inspired artificial intelligence to include decision making, machine learning, and optimization.
- The basics of fuzzy logic and genetic algorithms will be covered, including utilization of MATLAB.
- Students will work in groups to develop and apply MATLAB code to a set of engineering problems.
Program Expenses
- The program costs $2000, which includes:
- On-campus full board accommodation (3 weeks)
- SEVIS Fees for issuing F1 student Visa
- On Campus Medical Insurance coverage till up to $50,000
- Two cultural/social outings
- On Campus Gym membership (3 weeks)

Eligibility
- English proficiency is a must.
- Approval from your Faculty Dean, who, in turn, will send you to the Director of International Affairs for a personal interview.
