Program Overview
English Pet B1-B2 Course
The English Pet B1-B2 course is designed to prepare students for the official PET exam. The course consists of 12 comprehensive units that cover every part of the PET examination in detail.
Course Goals
- Prepare students to successfully complete the official PET exam.
- Bring students up to the level through which they can produce simple connected text on different topics and start working on academic papers.
- Respond to auditory cues through body language or gesture.
Course Structure
The course includes an official past exam paper supplied by Cambridge University ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and provides extra guidance for writing essays and papers.
Course Outline
The course outline includes the following units:
- Introduction and syllabus
- UNIT 1: Tell interesting stories about your own life.
- UNIT 2: Talk about your tastes in clothes and music.
- UNIT 3: Talk about aspects of your culture, manners, customs, and appropriate behavior.
- UNIT 4: Talk about things you are supposed to do and things that are supposed to happen.
- UNIT 5: Talk about rules and regulations, crime, and punishment.
- Midterm Exam
- UNIT 6: Talk about coincidences and strange events.
- UNIT 7: Talk about errands and solving problems.
- UNIT 8: Describe other people's emotions and personal qualities.
- UNIT 9: Talk about possessions and being materialistic.
- UNIT 10: Discuss hypothetical situations in the past and talk about celebrities and being famous.
- UNIT 11: Describe social and urban change.
- UNIT 12: Talk about planning a career.
Assessment
The course assessment includes:
- Course Work (Attendance, Participation, Assignments, Quizzes, Research Paper…): 30%
- Final Exam: 40%
- Midterm Exam: 30%
