Master of Science in Civil Engineering

The program features a two-track system: a professional project option with a three-credit project and nine graduate courses, or a thesis option with a six-credit research thesis and eight courses. In addition to core subjects, courses are offered in urban transportation planning, construction project management, water resources, wastewater treatment, earthquake engineering, advanced soil mechanics, and groundwater.

Entry Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a directly related discipline with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a 4.00-point scale from an accredited university recognized by the UAE's Ministry of Education-Higher Education Affairs.
  • English language proficiency requirements:
    • Official score report of international TOEFL (IBT) 79 or the ITP 550 (taken at Amideast) or the Academic IELTS 6.0 must be taken no more than two years prior to admission.
    • English EmSat minimum score of 1400 no more than 18 months prior to admission to Abu Dhabi University.
  • Students with a recognized Bachelor's degree and an EmSAT score of 1250, English Academic IELTS Score 5.5, or equivalent on another standardized test approved by the Ministry, can be granted conditional admission for one semester and may take a maximum of six credit hours in the first semester of study.

International Students

The university welcomes applications from students with a variety of Bachelor's degrees from an accredited university recognized by the UAE's Ministry of Education-Higher Education Affairs, upon their successful completion of any required program foundation courses.


Transfer Students

Postgraduate transfer students may apply for credit transfer for courses taken prior to joining Abu Dhabi University only once, when they first apply for admission.
