Overview

MEDI8403 Reflective Medical Practice 2 is a unit offered by Macquarie University as part of the Doctor of Medicine (Macquarie MD) program. This unit provides an opportunity for students to revise, reflect, and be assessed on their consolidated learning across the Macquarie MD.

• Unit Description: This unit involves tutorial sessions focused on developing advanced skills in responding to feedback, developing action plans, and critically reflecting on performance. Students will reflect on and continue to learn how to evaluate feedback, create action plans to address feedback, and reflect critically on their professional development.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

• ULO1: Demonstrate achievement of a standard of performance against the graduate expectations in the capabilities of Scientist and Scholar, Clinical Practitioner, Engaged Global Citizen, and Professional.
• ULO2: Demonstrate achievement of a standard of performance against the Graduate Entrustable Professional Activities, as appropriate for graduation from the Macquarie MD.
• ULO3: Use feedback from teachers, clinicians, peers, and patients to inform self-evaluation and critical reflection.
• ULO4: Demonstrate commitment to lifelong learning with the generation of professional development plans for the next phase of their medical career.

Assessment Tasks

• Integrated Examination: 50% weighting, hurdle assessment task, due on 23/06/2025
• Portfolio Exam / Interview: 50% weighting, hurdle assessment task, due on 31/10/2025

Delivery and Resources

This unit is the assessment unit at the culmination of the degree, encouraging students to reflect back on all learning of their degree and demonstrate that they have the knowledge and skills required to be a competent medical graduate and intern.
