Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  • Identify and analyse different disciplinary approaches to video game analysis.
  • Apply game design skills and methodologies to the production of basic video games.

General Assessment Information

  • Requirements to Pass: A student must obtain a numerical overall mark of 50 or more for the unit.
  • Grading: Students will be awarded common result grades as specified in the Assessment Policy.
  • Assessment Tasks:
    • Active Engagement (35%): Ongoing participation in theory and practical classes.
    • Game Analysis Report (30%): A report analyzing the design of a selected game.
    • Unity Game Task (35%): Designing a section of a basic video game using the Unity Game Engine.
