Overview
The PROF4000 unit is a placement-based capstone that provides support for students to continue scaffolding their professional skill development during a final extended vocational placement. Students will explore and develop strategies for addressing challenging, ambiguous, and complex professional situations.

- Unit description: This unit is designed to support students' transitions to the next phase of their career, career self-management, and ongoing learning journey.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- Critique their experiences and observations of ethical practice.
- Demonstrate communication skills appropriate for diverse professional audiences.
- Critically reflect on strategies for working with diverse teams.
- Develop strategies for action when complexity, ambiguity, and/or conflict are encountered in the workplace.
Assessment Tasks
- Professional Practice: Performance and Learning Evaluation (40%): Students will collect feedback from their workplace supervisors and reflect on their learning and the evaluation process.
- Professional Practice: Placement Learning Goals (20%): Students will develop learning goals for their placement, building on self-awareness and relevant to the tasks and responsibilities of the placement.
- Professional Practice: ePortfolio (40%): Students will curate an online portfolio showcasing the skills and attributes developed during their placement experience.
Delivery and Resources
The unit is delivered in person, with scheduled but infrequent meetings at the North Ryde campus. Further details on delivery and resources are available through the university's learning management system.
Unit Schedule
The unit schedule includes seminars and assessment due dates across a 12-week period, with topics covering interdisciplinary and cross-functional teams, conflict management, and global citizenship.
