Introduction to the Bachelor of Science in Health Program

The University of Houston's Bachelor of Science in Health program is designed to meet the increasing demand for public health educators, health promotion specialists, and allied health professionals. The program offers three degree tracks: public health, health promotion, and health promotion for allied health professionals.

The Bachelor of Science in Health program is dedicated to providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in a variety of healthcare settings. The program's mission is to prepare graduates to work in public health agencies, worksite health promotion, and voluntary health agencies.


Degree Tracks

The program offers three degree tracks:


  • Public Health: This track provides courses required for entry-level public health jobs found in government agencies, health corporations, community non-profit organizations, and healthcare facilities.
  • Health Promotion: This track consists of core health promotion courses and advanced health electives designed to provide students with the flexibility to develop areas of individual competencies desirable for future employment.
  • Health Promotion for Allied Health Professionals: This track is designed for students who have completed a two-year associate degree program in an allied health field and wish to progress to a bachelor's degree.
