Program Overview
University of Houston Law Center Part-Time Evening Program
The University of Houston Law Center offers a part-time evening program designed for working professionals seeking a highly respected legal education. This program is ranked #5 in the nation for Part-Time Law by U.S. News & World Report and #9 among U.S. law schools for return on investment (ROI) according to LawCrossing.
Program Overview
The part-time evening program allows students to attend law school while maintaining career, financial, and family obligations. The program is taught by the same world-class faculty as the day program, and students complete their J.D. degree in four consecutive academic years. Classes are held between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm, Monday through Thursday.
Schedule
The first year of law school in the part-time evening program consists of required courses, which generally meet Monday through Thursday evenings. After the first year, students have flexibility in the courses they wish to take, including attending classes during the day.

Scholarships and Tuition
Part-time evening students are eligible to receive the same breadth of financial aid offerings as day program students, including merit scholarships, federal and private loans. The university has a dedicated financial aid advisor to help students navigate the process of paying for their education.
Transfer to Day Program
If circumstances change, students may apply to transfer to the day program after completing their first year of law school. The application will be reviewed by the Office of Student Affairs. After the first year, students are permitted to take day classes to fit their schedule, even if they choose to remain in the part-time evening program.
