Program Overview

Introduction to the BCom/JD Program

The BCom/JD program is a six-year combined degree that brings together the strengths of the Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree offered by Smith School of Business and the rich business law program offered by Queen's Law. This program reduces completion time and tuition by one year for undergraduate students admitted to the BCom degree program at Smith.

Admission Information

Application for admission to the BCom/JD joint program is made directly to the Faculty of Law. The completed application should consist of the following documents:

  • Application Form
  • Personal Statement: Must be authored and edited solely by the applicant, indicating the student's reason for studying in the joint program and addressing the student's aptitude, skills, and suitability for the program. (6000 characters maximum)
  • Résumé
  • LSAT score report
  • Letter(s) of reference (at least one academic reference)
  • Non-Queen's transcripts sent directly from originating institutions

Assessment of Applications

Assessment of applications begins in January for applicants with complete applications. An interview with the Faculty of Law Admissions Staff may form part of the final decision.
