Master of Education (MEd) Program
The Master of Education (MEd) program at Queen's University is designed to equip students with advanced skills in research, writing, teaching, and educational leadership. This program does not lead to teaching certification and is open to applicants without a Bachelor of Education degree.

Program Structure
The MEd program offers three degree pathways:
- A fully course-based program (10 courses)
- A research-based thesis (6 courses + thesis)
- A practice-driven project (8 courses + project) All students are required to take EDUC 890: Introduction to Educational Research, while other courses are electives.
Support and Guidance
Students in the MEd program receive support and guidance from faculty members and the Graduate Studies Office. This includes help with planning courses, arranging independent studies or internships, and ensuring success throughout the program.
Internship and Research Opportunities
The MEd program offers an optional internship, providing hands-on experience in diverse communities of practice. Full-time thesis and project students may also work as teaching assistants in the Bachelor of Education program and collaborate on research with faculty members.
Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission to the MEd program, applicants must provide evidence of:
- A minimum of a mid-B average in a 4-year Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
- A BEd degree, and a minimum of a B- average in a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Professional experience and/or an Honours degree are considered assets.
Application Information
Completed applications, including submission of transcripts and references, are due by January 15 for September admission. Late applications will be accepted from domestic applicants until April 15 if there is space remaining in the program.
Funding and Financial Support
Funding packages are awarded to full-time students based on academic merit and may consist of scholarships, fellowships, external awards, internal awards, research assistantships, or teaching assistantships. The average funding for eligible MEd students is approximately $10,000 per year.

Awards and Teaching Assistantships
There are internal awards available to MEd students, including travel fellowships and awards. Graduate students who want to be considered for a teaching assistant position as part of their funding package must apply for one or more postings listed under Work at Queen's.
