Cybersecurity Education and Awareness Program
The Cybersecurity Education and Awareness Program is designed to assess and prioritize the awareness and education needs of Queen's students, staff, and faculty. The program outlines a framework for providing security-related information and messaging to support general cybersecurity awareness.
Program Description
The purpose of the program is to educate members of the Queen's community about evolving cyber threats and how to protect institutional and personal data. All members of the Queen's community, including students, staff, and faculty, are required to complete a mandatory cybersecurity training each year.
Importance of Cybersecurity Education and Awareness
Effective cybersecurity requires that every individual at the University follows best practices to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Queen's information and resources. Cybersecurity training and awareness educate Queen's members to understand, recognize, prevent, and respond to security incidents.
Program Components
The Cybersecurity Education and Awareness Program includes:
- Interactive Training: Annual training and supplementary role-based training specific to your function at the University.
- Awareness Material: Cybersecurity material updated quarterly.
Learning Paths for Role-based Training
Training is assigned based on your role at the University. Annual training invitations are sent out in October, and role-based training invitations are sent out every three or six months.
