Program Overview

The Executive MBA at Smith is a significant undertaking that requires a substantial investment of time. The program is designed to allow students to earn their MBA degree while balancing personal and professional responsibilities.


Program Schedule

The program schedule typically requires a commitment of 25 hours each week, including class times. Classes are held every other week, all day Friday and Saturday morning. Saturday afternoons are available for activities such as working on group assignments, summarizing class discussions, and preparing for presentations.

  • Creativity and Innovation Session: February 7 to 12, 2027, in Kingston
  • Boardroom Learning Team Sessions: Classes are held every other week, all day Friday (9:30 am to 6:30 pm Eastern Standard Time) and Saturday morning (9:30 am to 1:30 pm Eastern Standard Time)
  • 2 Week International Study Trip: All students will travel to an international partner school and complete an elective course. Teams will then complete travel for the purpose of meeting with their client and completing the Global Business Project. Approximate time away is two weeks one week at the international school location, and a second week completing work for the project. October 1 to 29, 2027

Program Duration

The Executive MBA program is 16 months from start to finish.


Location

The program is offered at the Smith School of Business Kingston campus, situated on traditional Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee Territory, and at SmithToronto, situated on the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat and Petun First Nations, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit River.


Program Commitment

The program requires a significant investment of time, with classes held every other week. Students should be prepared to commit to the program schedule and make necessary arrangements for travel and other responsibilities.


Global Business Project

The Global Business Project is a key component of the program, where teams will travel to an international partner school and complete an elective course. The project requires students to work with a client and complete a project, which will be completed over a period of two weeks.
