Program Overview

Queen's National Scholar Program

The Queen's National Scholar Program is relaunching with a focus on recruiting highly accomplished scholars who are global leaders in their fields of research, and who will help Queen's meet its strategic goal to make meaningful change in the world and tackle society's most pressing challenges.

Program Overview

The program aims to recruit exceptional researchers whose work advances the university's global impact and academic excellence. Three QNS positions will be available, with appointments beginning July 1, 2026.

Selection Process

  • The QNS selection committee will select three proposals to move to the second stage of the competition.
    • This stage will follow the typical faculty recruitment process.
  • QNS searches are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to employment equity and the pool of candidates will need to meet the QNS criteria, including commitments to Indigenization, diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and accessibility (I-EDIAA).

Program History

The Queen's National Scholar (QNS) program was first established in 1985 to enrich teaching and research in emerging fields of knowledge and in traditional disciplines. Since then, more than 100 QNS appointments have been made in a wide variety of disciplines, including Indigenous Studies, Black Studies, Precision Molecular Medicine, and Environmental Geochemistry.

Proposal Submission

  • Proposals for a Queen's National Scholar position are invited from faculties and schools.
  • The deadline to submit proposals is August 29, 2025.
